Three Austria: BWB/RTR confirm intense competition in Austria with mobile prices down 10% below 2011 levels
Vienna (OTS) - Jan Trionow, CEO of Hutchison Drei Austria, on the analysis of the Austrian mobile market published by RTR and BWB today:
‘According to the RTR’s own index mobile prices in Austria are now below 2011 levels, before Three’s merger with Orange. In reports published today by BWB, the national competition authority, and RTR, the national telecoms regulator, cite research which indicates prices did rise in 2013 and 2014 but have continued to drop in 2015. They are now 10% below 2011 levels as competition in the country has intensified.
Both reports clearly indicate that competition on the Austrian market is intense and the agreed remedies work, but that they might take time to deliver results.
Today’s statements confirm that due to competition Austria today has one of the best networks, concerning quality, network speed and availability. This follows significant post-merger investment which now provides Austria with some of the best network speeds, coverage and reliability in the German speaking world, alongside new technologies such as LTE (4G) and a world beating digital infrastructure. Austrian consumers now have access to more products and services than ever before.’
